Job Purpose: To supervise pupils during the lunchtime break, ensuring they are safe, well behaved and enjoying positive play in the dining room and playground, in line with the school’s values and the Island’s Essentials for Learning.

Duties:
- Supervising pupils in the dining room and playground throughout the lunchtime period.
- Encouraging pupils to eat their lunch and use good table manners.
- Promoting safe, creative and positive play and activities in the playground.
- Dealing with incidents and accidents and providing basic first aid, following school procedures.
- Being a clear point of contact between pupils and teaching staff, passing on concerns promptly.
- Working closely and co-operatively with teaching and support staff.
- Maintaining child safety and welfare at all times and following safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.
- Encouraging good behaviour and positive relationships between pupils.
- Building friendly, professional relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents as appropriate.

Essential Skills
- Enjoys working with children in a caring and approachable way.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to promote and join in play with children, encouraging inclusive activities.
- Able to supervise groups of children and maintain a safe, orderly environment.
- Able to encourage and model good manners and positive behaviour.
- Reliable, honest and punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Respects confidentiality and understands when to share concerns with staff.
- Willingness to work as part of a supportive team and follow school guidance and procedures.

Desirable Skills
- Experience of working with children, ideally in a school or childcare setting.
- Basic first aid training or willingness to complete first aid training.
- Awareness of safeguarding and child protection principles.
- Understanding of the school’s values and the 6Rs (readiness, relationships, resourcefulness, resilience, remembering, reflectiveness).
- Interest in progressing to other roles within an education environment.
