Visitor Service Assistants - Bank / Relief - MNH-007280
Job Purpose: To provide a welcoming and memorable experience for all visitors to Manx National Heritage sites. The role supports the organisation’s aims by promoting heritage, maximising income through admissions, retail and donations, and ensuring excellent customer service across all visitor operations. The position involves working flexibly across multiple sites and includes physical tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting and moving items.
Duties
- Deliver a warm and professional welcome to visitors and groups.
- Provide information about sites, exhibits and heritage events.
- Promote Manx National Heritage membership, retail sales and donations.
- Operate tills and follow cash handling and financial procedures.
- Maintain site cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Assist with events, tours and educational visits.
- Ensure visitor safety and report any risks or incidents.
- Support social media promotion by gathering photos or content.
- Uphold site security and respect the historic environment.
- Work flexibly across sites and weekends as required.
Essential Skills
- Experience in a customer-facing or retail role.
- Confident communicator with clear and friendly manner.
- Basic IT and EPOS/till operation skills.
- Reliable with good attention to detail and numeracy.
- Able to lift, move and stand for extended periods.
- Self-motivated, positive and adaptable attitude.
- Works well within a team and independently.
- Flexible to work weekends, bank holidays and at different MNH sites.
- Full valid driving licence and own transport.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of Manx history and heritage.
- Experience encouraging donations or upselling products.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
