Job Purpose: Support a visually impaired student during lunchtime, making sure they are safe, included, and supported to build independence while at school.
Duties
- Supervise and support the student throughout lunchtime, including in dining and outdoor areas.
- Help keep the student safe, happy, and included at all times.
- Support with tasks like opening food or cutting meals when needed, while encouraging independence.
- Promote positive behaviour and help the student build friendships with others.
- Work closely with school staff and the Vision Support Service team.
- Use guiding techniques (training provided) to support the student safely.
- Report any concerns or incidents to the relevant staff member.
- Follow school policies, especially around safeguarding, behaviour, and health & safety.
- Keep all student information confidential at all times.

- Experience working with children or young people.
- Positive, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude.
- Involvement in youth activities (e.g. clubs, groups).
- First Aid qualification.
