Job Overview : Join the Isle of Man Government dive team as a trainee. After passing a medical exam, you’ll attend a 9-week UK training course to gain your Commercial Diving Certificate. Once qualified, you'll work on inspecting, maintaining, and repairing underwater structures for the Government and private sector. You’ll receive ongoing training and join a call-out rota for emergency dive work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Train to become a fully qualified commercial diver.
- Maintain and repair underwater assets to a high standard.
- Join an on-call rota for 24/7 dive emergencies.
- Follow all safety rules, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Maintain dive equipment, tools, and work areas.
- Attend training and medicals as required.
- Report any safety concerns, equipment faults, or injuries promptly.
Essential Skills & Requirements:
- 5 GCSEs (including English) at Grade C or above.
- Good manual dexterity and spatial awareness.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and under pressure.
- Self-motivated with a flexible and safety-conscious attitude.
- Willing to undergo full HSE diving medical.
- Full driving licence (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
- Trade experience (e.g. mechanic, welder, joiner, electrician).
- Experience operating boats or small equipment.
- First Aid at Work Certificate.
- Powerboat Level 2, VHF radio licence.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Good IT and admin skills.
