Job Purpose: Support the theatre team in delivering safe, high-quality care to adult and paediatric patients within the Operating Department. You will help with patient transfers, equipment preparation, stock management, cleaning duties and ensuring theatres are ready for surgical procedures, all under the supervision of registered theatre practitioners.  

Duties  
- Assist with the safe movement and transfer of patients between wards, theatres, recovery areas and operating tables.
- Support theatre practitioners with positioning patients safely for procedures.
- Escort patients to and from theatre areas and provide reassurance and support.
- Help prepare theatres, operating tables, trolleys and equipment for procedures.
- Assist with cleaning, tidying and maintaining theatre areas to high standards.
- Transport specimens, equipment, materials and supplies as required.
- Monitor and record fridge and warming cabinet temperatures.
- Help manage stock levels, rotate supplies and distribute equipment throughout the department.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with colleagues, patients and relatives.
- Support patients with mobility, comfort, hygiene and recovery needs when delegated.
- Follow infection control, health and safety, confidentiality and safeguarding procedures at all times.
- Participate in training, team meetings, audits and service improvement activities.
- Assist with the maintenance and basic care of theatre equipment and furniture.
- Work collaboratively with theatre, recovery, anaesthetic, medical, housekeeping, clerical and portering teams.

Essential Skills
- NVQ Level 2 or willingness to work towards it within 18 months.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work on your own initiative.
- Effective time management skills.
- Basic IT skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop.
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
- Ability to remain calm and adaptable in a busy environment.

- Respectful, professional and reliable attitude.
- Satisfactory Police Check.

Desirable Skills
- Previous experience working in a ward, hospital or healthcare environment.
- Experience using patient administration systems or healthcare IT systems.
- Ability to cope with potentially stressful situations.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
