Job Purpose: Join the Performing Arts team at Castle Rushen High School as a Teacher of Dance with Literacy. You will help students develop confidence, creativity and academic skills by teaching Dance across Key Stages and supporting Literacy learning for Key Stage 3 students. You will also help grow the school’s extracurricular activities and support students both in and outside the classroom.    

Duties  
- Teach Dance lessons across Key Stages, including new KS3 and GCSE Dance courses.
- Deliver engaging Literacy lessons covering reading, comprehension and writing skills.
- Plan and deliver creative, well-structured lessons that support student progress.
- Support students of all abilities and adapt teaching where needed.
- Track student progress and provide feedback to help learners improve.
- Help develop extracurricular Performing Arts activities and events.
- Promote positive behaviour, attendance and attitudes to learning.
- Take part in pastoral duties, including form tutoring.
- Work with parents, colleagues and external agencies to support student wellbeing.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school community.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times.

Essential Skills
- Degree qualification in a relevant subject.
- Qualified Teacher Status or willingness to complete teacher training.
- Strong knowledge of Dance education and Literacy teaching.
- Good understanding of current education and teaching methods.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate young people.
- Ability to plan engaging lessons and raise student achievement.
- Strong organisational and administration skills.
- Confident using IT for teaching and learning.
- Positive attitude, resilience and enthusiasm.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Professional approach and ability to set a positive example for students.
- Satisfactory Police Check required.

Desirable Skills
- Experience delivering extracurricular Performing Arts activities.
- Experience using intervention strategies to support learners.
- Experience tracking and analysing student progress data.
- Warm and approachable personality with strong relationship-building skills.
