Job Purpose: Support the efficient operation of Manx Utilities’ stores by maintaining accurate inventory, receiving and issuing stock, and ensuring materials and equipment are available when needed to keep essential services running across the Island.
Duties
- Receive, check and store deliveries, ensuring goods are accurate, undamaged and correctly recorded.
- Pick, issue and load materials against authorised requests.
- Operate the computerised stores system to manage stock, orders and inventory records.
- Assist with ordering stock and low-value non-stock items in line with financial procedures.
- Carry out stock checks and report discrepancies to the Stores Supervisor.
- Collect materials from suppliers and deliver items to sites when required.
- Maintain tidy, safe and organised stores and yard areas in line with health and safety and COSHH requirements.
- Receive and organise recovered materials for reuse, refurbishment or disposal.
- Help maintain security within the stores and report any issues.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying and implementing better ways of working.
- Provide cover at other Manx Utilities stores locations as required.
- Assist with maintaining records and procedures for stores operations.
Essential Skills
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- Good numeracy, verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literate and confident using IT systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Awareness of health, safety and environmental legislation.

- Positive, adaptable attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to use own initiative with minimal supervision.
Desirable Skills
- Minimum of 2 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths.
- Previous experience working in a stores or warehouse environment with inventory control.
- Experience of materials handling.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and MS Teams.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Ability to operate a forklift truck and overhead crane (or willingness to be trained).
- Understanding of the materials and services used by Manx Utilities.
