Stable Hands - Bank - DOI-024514

Job Purpose: Assist with the care and welfare of the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway horses, helping to maintain the stables and supporting the day-to-day operation of the horse tram service.  

Duties  
- Accompany tram horses between the stables, tram stations and changeover points.
- Assist with moving horses to grazing fields and other locations when required.
- Feed, groom and care for the horses, ensuring their wellbeing at all times.
- Clean out stables, lay fresh bedding and keep the stable yard tidy.
- Move hay and straw bales as required.
- Follow health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Work with other departments when needed.
- Carry out other reasonable duties requested by the Horse Tram Superintendent.

Essential Skills  
- Experience providing good customer service.
- Experience working as part of a team.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of horse care and relevant safety practices.
- Practical ability and confidence when working with horses.
- Genuine interest in horses, their care and behaviour.
- Calm, friendly and polite approach.
- Reliable, self-motivated and hardworking.
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the role.
- Flexible with working hours, including weekends, public holidays and unsociable hours.

Desirable Skills
- Isle of Man Worker status.
