Job Purpose: To support older people at Cummal Mooar to live as independently as possible by providing high quality, person-centred care and support, helping them maintain dignity, choice and a good quality of life.  

Duties  
- Support residents with daily living tasks such as personal care, hygiene, dressing and meal preparation.
- Encourage independence by doing tasks with residents rather than for them wherever possible.
- Follow individual support and care plans to meet each person’s needs.
- Act as a key worker for allocated residents and help review their care plans.
- Monitor and report any changes in a resident’s health or wellbeing to your manager.
- Support residents with medication in line with policy and keep accurate records.
- Help residents manage daily activities such as shopping, appointments and community outings.
- Complete clear and accurate paper and electronic records.
- Work positively with families, carers and other professionals.
- Take part in team meetings, supervision and training.
- Work flexibly on a rota including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- Follow health and safety, safeguarding and relevant legislation at all times.

Essential Skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic IT skills (e.g. Word, Outlook, electronic records).
- Ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
- Ability to respond calmly in emergencies.
- Willingness to complete required training including RQF/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care (if not already achieved).
- Flexible and able to work shifts, including unsociable hours.
- Physically able to carry out care duties.
- Satisfactory Police Check.

Desirable Skills
- NVQ/RQF Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
- First Aid training.
- Moving and Handling training.
- Dementia awareness training.
- Experience supporting older people, especially those with complex needs such as dementia or mobility issues.
- Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Experience organising activities for older people.

Salary & benefits

£28,426 - £34,289 pro rata per annum

Full Time - 37 Hours & Part Time - 15 Hours available
