Job Purpose: Support older people with a range of care and support needs, helping them maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life while providing high-quality care in a residential setting.  

Duties
Provide day-to-day care and support to residents, promoting independence wherever possible.
- Assist with personal care, hygiene, continence support and daily living activities.
- Support residents with meal planning, food preparation and dietary needs.
- Administer and manage medication in line with policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate care records, assessments and support plans.
- Act as a key worker, helping to develop and review individual support plans.
- Support residents with shopping, appointments, activities and community involvement.
- Encourage residents to make informed choices and participate in decision-making.
- Work closely with families, colleagues and other professionals to provide the best support.
- Respond appropriately in emergency situations and report any concerns.
- Help organise and support recreational and social activities.
- Work flexibly across services as required, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Essential Skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and digital systems.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Understanding of promoting independence, dignity and respect.
- Reliable, honest and professional approach.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to deal with emergencies and changing situations.
- Commitment to completing required training and qualifications.
- Flexible approach to working hours and locations.
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the role.

Desirable Skills
- NVQ/RQF Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
- First Aid qualification.
- Moving and Handling training.
- Dementia Awareness training.
- Experience supporting vulnerable adults, particularly older people.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience supporting people with complex needs such as dementia, mobility issues or stroke.
- Experience organising activities and social programmes.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (where applicable).

Part Time - 15 or 20 hours per week.
