Social Care Worker - Cummal Mooar - DOHA-024855

Job Purpose: Support older people with a range of complex needs to live as independently as possible by providing high-quality, person-centred care within Cummal Mooar. Working as part of the Older People's Services team, you will help residents maintain their dignity, wellbeing and quality of life while promoting choice, independence and inclusion.  

Duties  
- Provide person-centred care and support based on individual care and support plans.
- Encourage residents to maintain their independence by supporting them to do as much as possible for themselves.
- Assist with personal care, hygiene, continence care, dressing and daily living activities.
- Support residents with meal planning, food preparation and dietary needs.
- Monitor residents' health and wellbeing and report any significant changes.
- Act as a key worker for allocated residents.
- Maintain accurate paper and electronic care records.
- Support residents with medication in line with Manx Care policies.
- Assist with shopping, managing finances, collecting pensions and paying bills where required.
- Carry out basic risk assessments and promote positive risk-taking.
- Work with families, carers and other professionals to support residents' wellbeing.
- Attend care reviews and contribute to support planning.
- Escort residents to appointments and arrange transport where required.
- Organise and support recreational and social activities.
- Encourage residents to take part in community activities and maintain social connections.
- Ensure equipment is safe and report any faults promptly.
- Attend meetings, supervision, appraisals and mandatory training.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection procedures at all times.

Essential Skills
- Commitment to completing the Care Certificate if not already achieved.
- Commitment to achieving an RQF Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Good IT skills, including Word and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and deal with emergencies.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Understanding of positive risk-taking.
- Positive approach to change.
- Honest, reliable and professional.
- Commitment to ongoing training and development.
- Respectful approach that promotes dignity, choice and independence.
- Highly motivated and person-centred.
- Flexible to work shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the role.
- Satisfactory police check.

Desirable Skills
- NVQ/RQF Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
- First Aid qualification.
- Safer People Moving and Handling qualification.
- Dementia Awareness training.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience supporting vulnerable or older people in a residential setting.
- Experience supporting older people with complex needs such as dementia, diabetes or stroke.
- Experience organising recreational activities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with families and other professionals.
- Full, valid driving licence.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
