Job Purpose: To support residents in a friendly, homely care setting, making sure their individual needs are met through a person-centred approach. You will work as part of a team to provide respectful, dignified care that promotes choice, independence and privacy at all times. You will often be a key point of contact for residents and their families, helping to build trust and confidence in the service.  

Duties  
- Support residents to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
- Deliver personal care in line with individual care and support plans.
- Write and review care plans, recording any changes in needs.
- Plan and run activities that improve residents’ quality of life.
- Take on keyworker responsibilities as directed by the Manager.
- Carry out risk assessments and promote a safe environment.
- Support residents at mealtimes, including serving food and assisting where needed.
- Recognise when a resident is unwell and take appropriate action.
- Administer medication safely following training and policy.
- Escort residents to appointments and community activities.
- Complete laundry and light housekeeping duties if required.
- Keep accurate records using written and electronic systems.
- Follow data protection, confidentiality, health and safety and relevant legislation at all times.
- Attend training, meetings and supervision sessions as required.
- Work flexibly on a rota basis, including weekends, nights and bank holidays.

Essential Skills  
- Willing to work towards or hold a Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work as part of a team and use your own initiative.
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
- Basic numeracy and IT skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety and risk management.
- Resilient, calm under pressure and professional in approach.
- Flexible to work shifts, including unsociable hours.
- Satisfactory police check and physically able to carry out the role.

Desirable Skills  
- Experience working with vulnerable adults.
- Experience supporting people living with dementia.
- Level 2 vocational qualification (QCF/RQF) in Health & Social Care.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
- Ability to travel to different homes across the Island.
