Job Purpose: Support patients through their rehabilitation journey by helping them regain independence and reach their best possible level of functioning. You will work as part of a multi-professional team under the direction of a Registered Practitioner, delivering high quality care and guiding Health Care Assistants.
Duties
- Support patients with mobility, exercise programmes and use of walking aids
- Help with personal care including washing, dressing, toileting and oral hygiene
- Assist with meals, nutrition and hydration
- Monitor and record observations such as blood pressure, temperature and pulse
- Carry out clinical tasks after training, including simple wound dressings, ECG recording, blood glucose monitoring, venepuncture and specimen collection
- Support patients with neurological, orthopaedic and medical conditions including stroke and respiratory conditions
- Encourage and motivate patients during rehabilitation activities
- Maintain accurate patient records and report changes to the Registered Practitioner
- Supervise and support Health Care Assistants in delivering care
- Prepare and maintain equipment and manage stock levels
- Follow hospital policies including infection control, confidentiality and health and safety
- Contribute to quality improvement and team meetings
Essential Skills
- NVQ Level II in Health and Social Care or equivalent
- Experience working in a health care setting
- Caring and compassionate approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Confidence to carry out delegated clinical tasks after training
- Good communication skills with patients, families and colleagues
- Ability to recognise when to seek advice
- Willingness to complete mandatory training and continue professional development
- Flexible approach to work
- Satisfactory Police Check
Desirable Skills
- NVQ Level III in Health and Social Care or equivalent
- Experience supervising or supporting other staff
- Basic IT skills
- Isle of Man Worker status
