Job Purpose: Help protect the Isle of Man Government's IT systems by monitoring, analysing and responding to cyber security threats and vulnerabilities. Work as part of the Security & Networks Analyst Centre (SNAC) to maintain secure, reliable and compliant technology services across Government.  

Duties
- Monitor networks and systems for security threats, suspicious activity and vulnerabilities.
- Investigate and analyse security incidents to identify causes, risks and impact.
- Use security monitoring tools, including SIEM platforms, to detect and respond to threats.
- Carry out vulnerability scans and escalate identified risks.
- Work with technical teams to improve the security of Government infrastructure.
- Provide advice on cyber security, compliance and system vulnerabilities.
- Help develop and maintain security policies, standards and procedures.
- Configure, monitor and maintain security tools and automated response workflows.
- Analyse trends and produce reports with recommendations for improvement.
- Document all work using agreed standards and procedures.
- Keep up to date with new cyber security threats, technologies and best practice.
- Support the maintenance and reliability of security monitoring systems.
- Follow information security, confidentiality and government policies at all times.

Essential Skills
- Relevant IT or cyber security qualification, or willingness to gain security-related qualifications.
- Knowledge of recognised security standards such as CIS, NIST or ISO/IEC 27001.
- Ability to analyse threats, anomalies and suspicious activity.
- Strong logical problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Good understanding of a range of IT systems and technologies.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical information clearly.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to develop and follow operational processes and procedures.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Adaptable, organised and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Resilient and able to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Comfortable working with minimum supervision.
- Security Clearance check.

Desirable Skills
- Experience working with security or network infrastructure.
- Experience using security tools such as SIEM, Endpoint AV, Malware protection, Tenable/Nessus or Wireshark.
- Experience with Microsoft Cloud security, including Azure and Sentinel.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and desktop environments.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and client/server technologies such as SMB, FTP and SSH.
- Driving licence.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
