Job Purpose: To provide secretarial and administrative support to clinical teams, helping make sure letters, reports, records and day-to-day office tasks are completed accurately, on time and confidentially.  

Duties  
- Type clinical and general documents accurately, including letters, reports and other records.
- Use copy typing, audio typing and word processing to produce documents to a high standard.
- Manage filing systems and keep records organised and up to date.
- Handle confidential information, including test results, with care and discretion.
- Sort and prioritise results and paperwork for medical staff.
- Answer phone calls, pass on messages and respond to enquiries in a helpful and professional way.
- Deal with incoming and outgoing mail and distribute information where needed.
- Arrange meetings and prepare any paperwork or materials required.
- Work closely with wards, medical staff, departments and other hospitals.
- Support other members of the secretarial team when needed.
- Help across different specialties to make sure clinical letters are completed within required timescales.
- Report any issues affecting the smooth running of the department to senior staff.

Desirable skills
- Experience working in a busy office environment.
- Previous secretarial or administrative experience.
- Audio typing or audio transcription skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Relevant qualifications in English, text processing or audio transcription.
