Job Purpose: Help children and families cross the road safely on their way to and from school, making sure traffic is stopped at the right time and everyone stays safe.  

Duties  
- Stop traffic safely using correct procedures so pedestrians can cross.
- Help children cross the road and keep them safe while they wait.
- Manage traffic flow to reduce congestion around the crossing area.
- Follow all safety rules, policies and the School Crossing Patrol guidelines.
- Wear and look after uniform and equipment properly.
- Report any accidents, issues or concerns to a supervisor.
- Check signs, lights and equipment are working and report faults.
- Help keep the area safe in poor weather (e.g. cones, grit when needed).
- Complete basic forms if there is an incident.

Essential Skills  
- Good awareness and attention to safety when working near traffic.
- Ability to judge safe gaps in traffic before stepping into the road.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Able to follow rules and health & safety procedures.
- Confident working independently after training.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Physically able to stand, move quickly and respond to traffic situations.
- Basic ability to complete forms or simple admin tasks.

Desirable Skills
- Experience working with children or the public.
- Friendly and able to build good relationships with the community.
- Basic computer skills (or willingness to learn).
