Job Purpose: Work as part of the cleaning team to maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment across Manor Park Primary School. You will help ensure the school provides a welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and reporting any health and safety concerns.
Duties
- Clean classrooms, corridors, offices, toilets, changing rooms and other designated areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, polish and clean windows, doors and internal glass surfaces.
- Empty litter bins and dispose of waste safely.
- Clean toilets, showers and associated fittings to a high standard.
- Use cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, scrubber dryers, polishing machines and carpet cleaners safely and correctly.
- Monitor work areas and report maintenance faults, hazards and hygiene issues promptly.
- Follow health and safety procedures, including COSHH guidance and safe working practices.
- Assist with site opening and closing duties when required.
- Help move furniture and equipment when necessary.
- Provide cover for colleagues when required and support the wider cleaning team.
- Maintain confidentiality and contribute to a high-quality cleaning service.
- Promote safeguarding by reporting any concerns relating to the welfare of children and young people.
Essential Skills
- Previous experience working in a cleaning role.
- Experience using cleaning machinery and equipment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to achieve and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills.

- Satisfactory Police Check.
Desirable Skills
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures, including COSHH.
- Ability to prioritise cleaning tasks and identify equipment or supply requirements.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
