Job Purpose: To support the day-to-day running of the hospital retail service by providing a friendly, efficient service to patients, staff and visitors, while following all department standards and procedures.  

Duties  
- Provide a welcoming and helpful service to patients, staff, visitors and external contacts
- Prepare and display products ready for sale
- Use product knowledge to advise customers and answer questions
- Check deliveries and stock, making sure items are in date and correctly priced
- Operate the ePOS till system and handle card and cash payments accurately
- Replenish stock, rotate products and reduce wastage
- Support stocktaking when required
- Carry out daily cleaning and keep retail areas tidy and safe
- Open and close the retail unit securely and use the Traka key system correctly
- Complete end of day cashing up in line with financial procedures
- Answer the shop phone politely and professionally
- Report any faults, defects or incidents to the supervisor
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times
- Maintain confidentiality and respect for service users
- Take part in relevant training and support team members as needed

Essential Skills
- Previous retail experience with a strong focus on customer service
- Experience using ePOS tills and card payment machines
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and basic numerical skills
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality
- Physically able to lift and carry stock
- Self-motivated, approachable and flexible
- Confident communicator with good customer care skills
- Willing to complete a satisfactory Police Check

Desirable Skills
- English and Maths GCSE Grade C (4) or equivalent
- Product display and merchandising experience
- Isle of Man worker status
