Job Purpose: Support the delivery of a great visitor and retail experience across Manx National Heritage sites, helping customers enjoy their visit while boosting sales, donations and engagement with Manx heritage.
Duties
- Provide friendly, engaging customer service to all visitors
- Promote products, tickets, donations and the work of Manx National Heritage
- Maximise sales through upselling and strong product knowledge
- Operate tills and handle cash accurately following procedures
- Support shop operations including opening, closing and stock handling
- Process and fulfil online shop orders
- Maintain clean, safe and well-presented retail and site areas
- Assist with events, group visits and general visitor experience
- Gather and share visitor feedback to improve services
- Help with site setup and close-down during seasonal changes
- Support security and safety checks across the site
- Work flexibly across different locations and shifts, including weekends
Essential Skills
- Experience in retail or customer-facing role
- Good communication skills (spoken and written)
- Confident using IT systems and tills (EPOS)
- Numerate with strong attention to detail
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Able to work independently and take responsibility
- Physically able to lift, move items and be on feet most of the day
- Flexible to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays
- Enthusiastic, proactive and reliable
Desirable skills
- Experience with EPOS, stock systems or online retail
- Experience in sales or income generation
- Knowledge or interest in Manx history and heritage
- Experience handling cash and following financial procedures
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
