Job Purpose: To support residents in a care home using a person-centered approach, helping them live safely, comfortably and with dignity. The role involves working as part of a team to provide day-to-day care, encourage independence and ensure residents feel respected, supported and included at all times.  

Duties  
- Support residents with their daily care needs in a respectful and person-centered way.
- Encourage residents to make choices that support their health, wellbeing and independence.
- Help plan and deliver activities that improve residents’ quality of life.
- Assist with personal care, wellbeing and daily living tasks as outlined in care plans.
- Write and update care plans and record any changes in residents’ needs.
- Carry out risk assessments and help keep residents safe.
- Act as a key worker for residents when required.
- Support residents during meal times, including serving food and assisting them to eat if needed.
- Recognise when a resident is unwell and report concerns or take appropriate action.
- Administer medication following training and established procedures.
- Escort residents to appointments or community activities when required.
- Help with basic housekeeping or laundry duties when needed.
- Communicate clearly with residents, families and colleagues.
- Report important information or concerns to the management team.
- Attend meetings, supervision and required training.
- Follow all policies including confidentiality, data protection and health & safety.
- Work in line with Manx Care values and maintain professional behaviour at all times.

Essential Skills
- Good communication skills, both written and spoken English.
- Ability to support and care for vulnerable people.
- Ability to organise and take part in activities for residents.
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
- Basic numeracy skills.
- Ability to use IT systems and electronic records.
- Understanding of health and safety and managing risks.
- Good teamwork skills and ability to use your own initiative.
- Calm and resilient when dealing with challenging situations.
- Reliable, punctual and committed to the role.
- Able to work flexible shifts including weekends, nights and bank holidays.
- Able to travel to different care homes if required.
- Able to pass a police check and meet physical requirements of the role.

Desirable Skills
- Level 2 vocational qualification (such as QCF/RQF).
- Experience working with vulnerable people.
- Experience supporting people living with dementia.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
