Job Purpose: To provide a high-quality customer service and accurately process land, deeds and civil registration documents, meeting all deadlines and service standards.  

The Duties  
- Act as a first point of contact for customers in person, by phone, email and post, providing clear information and guidance.  
- Accept applications for registration, issue receipts and ensure correct fees are calculated and collected.  
- Process registration applications accurately, efficiently and in line with relevant legislation.  
- Create, check and manage electronic images of documents, ensuring correct indexing and secure filing.  
- Verify application details entered by colleagues and identify any errors for correction.  
- Prepare and organise application papers in correct order, including for legal or adjudication purposes.  
- Use and support bespoke computer systems, including helping to test new systems and report issues.  
- Assist with compiling accurate statistics and basic financial reporting, including balancing the till when required.  
- Provide cover in the Civil Registry, issuing birth, marriage and death certificates and dealing with the public.  
- Take part in training, personal development and carry out other appropriate duties as required.  
  
Essential Skills  
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
- Experience working in an office environment.
- Customer service experience, including dealing with members of the public.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail.
- Ability to work accurately to deadlines and targets.
- Confident using computers, including Microsoft Office and bespoke systems.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Skills
- Experience working under minimal supervision.
- Problem-solving skills and sound judgement.
- Knowledge of conveyancing.
- Previous experience handling fees or basic financial processes.
