Duties include:
Enforce the Laws of the Game: Apply the IFAB Laws of the Game fairly, consistently, and impartially throughout the match.
Ensure Player Safety: Protect players by penalising dangerous play, managing physical contact, and stopping play for injuries when required.
Control and Manage the Match: Maintain discipline, manage tempo, and deal with misconduct using cautions (yellow cards) and send-offs (red cards).
Make Accurate Decisions: Judge fouls, offsides (where applicable), restarts, goals, and infringements in real time.
Work with the Officiating Team: Communicate effectively with assistant referees, fourth officials, and VAR (if used).
Manage Player and Team Conduct: Handle dissent, manage technical areas, and communicate decisions clearly to players and coaches.
Apply Match Procedures: Conduct pre-match checks (pitch, equipment, players), manage substitutions, keep time, and restart play correctly.
Report and Administration: Complete match reports, including disciplinary actions, injuries, and incidents, accurately and on time.
Professional Standards: Maintain fitness, knowledge of law changes, neutrality, and a high standard of behaviour on and off the pitch.
