Job Purpose: Work as part of the Ports Unit to help maintain the safety and security of the Island's ports. You will provide a visible security presence, assist the travelling public, monitor port facilities and work closely with the Police, Customs and other agencies to deliver a safe and efficient service.  

Duties  
- Provide a visible security presence at ports and maintain security standards.  
- Assist and direct passengers using the Island's harbours and port facilities.  
- Work closely with Police Officers, Customs Officers and other partner agencies.  
- Control access to secure areas and manage the issue and security of keys.  
- Respond to incidents, security concerns and emergencies, completing reports where required.  
- Lock and unlock port facilities and secure restricted areas.  
- Assist with traffic management, marshalling areas and crowd control during busy periods and special events.  
- Provide security during the arrival and departure of cruise ships, cargo vessels and tankers.  
- Operate the public weighbridge, maintain records and collect fees where required.  
- Check commercial vehicles for obvious defects and refer concerns to the appropriate inspectors.  
- Carry out security patrols, monitor parking restrictions and report maintenance or safety issues.  
- Make public announcements and display passenger information signs when required.  
- Support emergency procedures, including road closures, traffic control and public safety.  
- Complete mandatory training and maintain professional standards at all times.

- Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and partner organisations.  
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.  
- Full valid driving licence.  
- Ability to work flexible shifts across a 24-hour rota and at different port locations.  
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance.  
- Willingness to complete mandatory training, including Police Powers and Procedures, Officer Safety Training and Port Security training.  

Desirable Skills  
- Five GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above), including English Language, or equivalent.  
- Experience working rotating shift patterns.  
- First Aid qualification.  
- Knowledge of Maritime Security legislation.  
- Knowledge of Police Powers and Procedures.  
- Good computer skills.  
- Isle of Man Worker status.

£26,609 - £32,343 plus 34% Shift Disturbance Allowance
