Job Purpose: Support the Income Tax Division by managing National Insurance records, helping customers understand their contributions, and ensuring payments, claims and records are accurate and up to date.
Duties
- Calculate and explain National Insurance contributions by phone, in person and in writing
- Check eligibility for voluntary contributions and process applications
- Identify overpayments and arrange refunds where needed
- Keep customer records accurate and up to date on systems
- Process National Insurance number applications and related requests
- Review payments, chase outstanding contributions and manage queries
- Help calculate pension entitlements and provide forecasts
- Support customers with questions about pensions, contributions and benefits
- Provide excellent customer service across counter, phone and online channels
- Promote online services and help customers use them
- Work with colleagues across teams to support National Insurance queries
- Take part in training to build technical knowledge and skills
- Help improve systems and processes through feedback and ideas
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all policies and regulations
- Support team projects and carry out other admin duties as needed

- Good IT skills and ability to learn systems quickly

- Minimum 5 GCSEs (grade C/4 or above including English) or equivalent
Desirable Skills
- Experience in an admin role, ideally in finance or a customer-based environment
- Knowledge of Income Tax or National Insurance
- Experience dealing with customer enquiries
- Ability to work with technical information and data
