Lunchtime Assistant - St John's Primary School - DOES-025223

Job Purpose: Supervise and support pupils at St John’s Primary School during lunchtime, helping them stay safe, enjoy their break and develop positive relationships. You will encourage good behaviour, healthy eating and safe, creative play.    

Duties    
- Supervise pupils during lunchtime in the dining room and playground.  
- Encourage pupils to eat their lunch and enjoy their break safely.
- Promote safe, creative and positive play and activities.
- Encourage good manners and positive behaviour.
- Deal with incidents and provide first aid attention when required.
- Act as a point of contact between pupils and teaching staff.
- Work closely with teaching staff and other colleagues.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Maintain pupils' safety and welfare throughout lunchtime.
- Report any concerns about pupils to teaching staff.
- Maintain confidentiality about individual pupils at all times.

Essential Skills
- No formal qualifications or previous experience are required.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to encourage and promote play with children.
- Willingness to work as part of a team.
- Caring, kind and approachable manner.
- Ability to build positive relationships with children and adults.
- Commitment to keeping children safe and promoting good behaviour.
- Honest, responsible and professional approach.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Desirable Skills
- Previous experience working with or caring for children would be useful but is not required.
