Lunchtime Assistant - Specialist Provision Centre - Bunscoill Rhumsaa - DOES-025664

Job Purpose: Help children with special educational needs enjoy a safe, positive and inclusive lunchtime at Bunscoill Rhumsaa’s Specialist Provision Centre. Previous school-based experience is not essential.  

Duties:  
- Supervise and support children during lunch and playtime.  
- Help with eating, feeding, personal hygiene, toileting and changing as needed.  
- Encourage positive play, good manners and friendships.
- Follow individual support and behaviour programmes.
- Provide first aid when required and report accidents or concerns.
- Help keep dining and play areas clean and safe.
- Work with school staff and undertake training to use specialist equipment and provide additional care.

Essential Skills:
- Willingness to support children with special educational needs, individually and in groups.
- Comfortable helping with feeding, toileting and personal care.
- Friendly, approachable and calm, with a common-sense approach.
- Able to work in a team and build positive relationships with children and adults.
- Discreet and able to keep information confidential.
- Willingness to complete training and develop new skills.
- Satisfactory enhanced police check with barring checks.

Desirable Skills:
- Experience working with or caring for primary or secondary school-age children.
- Experience of voluntary youth work, such as Brownies or Scouts.
- Current first aid certificate.
- Enthusiasm, energy and a positive outlook.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
