Job Purpose: Support pupils in the Specialist Provision Centre during the lunchtime period, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and inclusion while encouraging positive play, independence and social development in a caring and supportive environment.
Duties
- Supervise pupils in the dining area, Specialist Provision Centre and outdoor spaces during lunchtime.
- Provide one-to-one or group support for children with special educational needs.
- Assist pupils with eating, including cutting up food and supporting individual feeding programmes where required.
- Support personal care needs, including toileting, changing and hygiene routines.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage safe, inclusive play activities.
- Follow individual support programmes and behaviour plans as directed by the SPC team.
- Use specialist equipment and techniques, including moving and handling procedures where trained.
- Assist with medical procedures and specialist training, such as PEG feeding or suction, where required.
- Deal with incidents and provide first aid, reporting accidents and concerns appropriately.
- Liaise with teaching staff and the Specialist Provision Centre team to support pupils effectively.
- Maintain confidentiality and build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- Attend relevant training and meetings to keep skills and knowledge up to date.

Desirable Skills
- Experience working with or caring for primary or secondary school-aged children.
- Voluntary youth work experience, such as Brownies, Scouts or similar organisations.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
