Job Purpose: Support students in the Specialist Provision Centre during lunchtime, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and inclusion. You will help create a positive environment, support students with special educational needs, encourage social interaction and play, and assist with personal care where required.
Duties
- Supervise students during lunchtime in the dining area, Specialist Provision Centre and outdoor spaces.
- Support students with special educational needs on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
- Encourage positive behaviour, good manners and social interaction.
- Help students with eating, including cutting up food, opening packets and supporting individual feeding programmes.
- Assist with personal care tasks, including toileting and changing where required.
- Promote safe and enjoyable play activities during lunchtime.
- Monitor student wellbeing and report any concerns to the Specialist Provision Centre Manager.
- Provide basic first aid and report accidents or incidents appropriately.
- Follow individual support plans, behaviour programmes and specialist communication methods.
- Use specialist equipment and techniques, following training and guidance provided.
- Work closely with teaching staff and the Specialist Provision team.
- Maintain confidentiality and safeguard the welfare of all students.
- Attend relevant training and meetings as required.
- Help maintain a safe, clean and secure environment for students.

- Satisfactory police check.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with or caring for school-aged children.
- Enthusiastic, energetic and optimistic approach.
- Experience of voluntary youth work such as Brownies, Scouts or similar groups.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
