Job Purpose: Under the direction of the Specialist Provision Centre (SPC) Manager, support learners who stay in school at lunchtime, ensuring their security, safety and wellbeing.  

Duties:  
- Supervise learners throughout lunchtime (dining room, SPC and outdoor areas) and promote good manners and positive play.
- Support learners with special educational needs, including 1:1 or small group support, encouraging activities and positive relationships.
- Help learners with routines such as toileting/handwashing and being clean and tidy before returning to lessons.
- Support with meals (e.g., cutting food, opening packets) and follow individual eating programmes where required.
- Monitor behaviour, use agreed incentives/sanctions, and follow behaviour plans and risk assessments as needed.
- Provide basic first aid and ensure incidents are reported and recorded (including head bumps).
- Assist with personal care and hygiene, including toileting/changing and specialist toileting programmes/equipment where required.
- Follow individual learner programmes (e.g., PECS) and use specialist equipment as directed, and complete required medical competencies/training.
- Maintain confidentiality and work positively with colleagues, attending training/meetings as required.

Essential Skills  
- Experience of working with, or caring for, children/young people of a relevant age.
- Willingness to provide care and support, including 1:1 support for complex needs and group support.
- Warm, approachable, calm, and able to show empathy to all students.
- Enthusiasm, energy, optimism, and a common-sense approach.
- Able to work as part of a team and maintain discretion/confidentiality.
- Able to meet the agreed hours of the role, and physically able to carry out the requirements of the post.
- Satisfactory police check and Isle of Man worker status (where applicable).

Desirable skills  
- Voluntary youth work experience (e.g., Brownies, Scouts).
- First Aid training.
