Kitchen Assistant - Queen Elizabeth II High School - DOES-025637

Job Purpose: Join the catering team at Queen Elizabeth II High School, helping prepare and serve meals and keep the kitchen and dining areas clean, safe and welcoming.  

Duties:  
- Help prepare food, carry out simple cooking and serve snacks and meals.
- Set up serving counters, take food orders and operate tills.
- Encourage pupils to try different foods in a friendly, positive way.
- Clear tables, wash dishes and clean kitchen equipment and dining areas.
- Put away deliveries, check dates and help rotate stock.
- Follow food hygiene, health and safety and safeguarding procedures.

Essential Skills:
- Experience in customer service and cleaning.
- Good organisation and the ability to finish tasks within set times.
- Clear communication with staff and students.
- Ability to use cleaning materials correctly and clean to a high standard.
- Willingness to learn to use a computerised till and complete relevant training.
- Ability to work as part of a team, follow instructions and use your initiative.
- A positive attitude, pride in your work and good timekeeping.
- Willingness to follow health and safety requirements.
- A satisfactory enhanced police check with barring.

Desirable Skills:
- Experience handling and preparing food.
- Experience cleaning in a catering environment.
- A catering qualification, first aid qualification or food hygiene training.
- Knowledge of catering equipment and health and safety in schools.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
