Job of the Week
Auto Solutions is looking for a Junior Service Advisor to join our busy front-of-house team. Established in 2008, we are a local garage based at Kirby Farm Industrial Estate in Braddan, employing around 28 staff. We provide servicing, maintenance and repairs for a wide range of vehicles, from cars and vans to motorhomes, horseboxes and heavy goods vehicles, working with both private and commercial customers.
About the role
You will help customers from their first enquiry through to collecting their vehicle. Working closely with our workshop team, you will organise bookings, keep customers informed and ensure the paperwork is accurate and up to date.
This is an entry-level position with full training provided. It would suit someone looking to start a career in the motor trade, or someone keen to bring their customer service experience into a new industry.
Your main duties will include:
- Handling customer enquiries by phone, email and in person.
- Booking work into the workshop diary and ordering parts for each job.
- Explaining technicians’ findings to customers and obtaining approval for additional work.
- Preparing estimates and following up on outstanding estimates.
- Keeping customers informed while their vehicle is with us and contacting them when work is complete.
- Ensuring incorrect parts and parts subject to a surcharge are returned to suppliers, and following up on any credits due.
- Checking suppliers’ parts invoices and credit notes against quotations to ensure the correct prices have been charged.
- Checking that all parts and consumables used have been allocated to each job and included on the customer’s invoice.
- Preparing final customer invoices and taking payments.
- Keeping the reception area tidy and welcoming.
What we’re looking for:
- A friendly, helpful manner and good communication skills.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to keep accurate records.
- Careful attention to detail when checking parts, prices and invoices, ensuring nothing is missed.
- Reliability and a willingness to learn.
- The ability to manage several tasks and keep track of what needs doing.
- Confidence using computers and learning new systems.
- An interest in cars, good practical skills and a practical approach to solving problems.
Previous experience in a customer service role would be helpful, whether in hospitality, retail or another industry, but is not essential. You do not need previous motor trade experience or mechanical qualifications.
A driving licence would also be useful, although it is not essential.
