Job Purpose: Carry out joinery maintenance, repairs and installation work across a wide range of Isle of Man Government buildings, helping to keep public facilities safe, functional and well maintained while working as part of a multi-skilled facilities management team.
Duties:
- Carry out first and second fix joinery work across Government properties.
- Complete maintenance, repairs, refurbishments and minor improvement projects.
- Manufacture, assemble and install joinery items in the workshop and on site.
- Undertake reactive repairs and planned maintenance activities.
- Order materials in line with procedures and assist with stock control.
- Ensure work complies with health and safety standards and safe systems of work.
- Complete risk assessments and method statements where required.
- Operate and maintain joinery tools, machinery and equipment safely.
- Use the Computer Aided Facilities Management system to record work and documentation.
- Liaise with supervisors, the Facilities Helpdesk and building occupants.
- Assist other trades and work collaboratively within the maintenance team.
- Participate in on-call duties, overtime and emergency repairs when required.
- Undertake ongoing training and professional development, including new techniques and technologies.
Essential Skills
- City & Guilds or Level 3 Certificate in Joinery.
- Completed Joinery Apprenticeship.
- Proven experience working as a joiner.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.
- High standard of workmanship with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage workloads effectively.
- Flexible approach to overtime, on-call and emergency work.
- Ability and willingness to work at height using ladders or scaffolding.
- Ability and willingness to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to make decisions and use own initiative.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Full valid driving licence.
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the role.
Desirable Skills
- Risk assessment qualification or training.
- Microsoft Office and Windows skills.
- Experience operating Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs).
- Isle of Man Worker status.
