Health Care Assistant - Trauma & Orthopaedic Wards - MCX-025317

Job Purpose: Support patients on the Trauma & Orthopaedic Wards at Noble’s Hospital, helping with everyday care, recovery and rehabilitation under the direction of registered nursing staff.  

Duties:  
- Help patients with washing, dressing, oral hygiene and using the toilet.
- Assist with meals and drinks, supporting patients’ nutritional needs.
- Help patients move safely and escort them to appointments within the hospital.
- Monitor and record basic observations after appropriate training, reporting changes to nursing staff.
- Maintain accurate care records and protect patients’ privacy and dignity.
- Provide reassurance and support to patients and their families, including during end-of-life care.
- Keep equipment and patient areas clean, follow infection prevention procedures and help maintain supplies.

- Good communication skills and a friendly, caring approach.
- Ability to work well in a team and adapt to changing needs.
- Willingness to learn, complete training and help improve patient care.
- Understanding of confidentiality and the importance of safe, high-quality care.
- Ability to follow hospital procedures and health and safety requirements.
- A responsible, respectful and positive attitude.
- Ability to carry out the physical duties of the role.
- A satisfactory enhanced police check with barring checks.

Desirable Skills:
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent knowledge and skills.
- Previous experience caring for people who are unwell.
- Basic IT skills.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
