Job Purpose: To work as part of a team maintaining and supporting school playing fields, landscaped areas and outdoor spaces across the Isle of Man, ensuring safe, well-presented and functional environments.  

The Duties  
- Cut and maintain grass on playing fields and landscaped areas.
- Mark sports fields for different sports and adapt layouts as required.
- Install, erect and remove sports equipment and facilities.
- Trim hedges, clear cuttings and support hedge planting and establishment.
- Assist with drainage works, including clearing ditches and laying secondary drains.
- Apply fertiliser to playing fields and prepare, seed or turf grass areas.
- Construct and maintain long jump areas and all-weather cricket wickets when required.
- Install, maintain and repair fencing.
- Carry out minor maintenance on equipment such as mowers, strimmers and hedge trimmers.
- Undertake general labouring duties and assist other trades when needed.
- Support site managers with moving furniture and equipment between sites.
- Carry out general painting and minor repairs to sports equipment.
- Dig garden beds and carry out general pruning of shrubs and plants.
- Drive tractors and light vehicles as required.
- Carry out weed control on hard surfaces and fence lines.
- Follow all health and safety requirements and help respond to emergency situations.
- Interact calmly and professionally with school staff, the public and children.
- Assist with opening and securing buildings when required.

Essential Skills  
- Experience using powered garden machinery.
- Good understanding of health and safety at work and risk assessments.
- Ability to work safely, independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driving licence for a manual vehicle.
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the role.
- Flexible and willing to work across different locations.

Desirable Skills  
- Qualifications in weed spraying (PA1 and PA6).
- Chainsaw qualifications (CS30 and CS31).
- Experience driving tractors.
- General gardening, landscaping and labouring experience.
- Basic DIY and maintenance skills.
- Experience marking sports fields and maintaining sports facilities.
