Job Purpose: Support the safe and effective day-to-day operation of the National Sports Centre Fitness Zone and Spa Suite. Deliver excellent customer service, supervise gym users, promote health and wellbeing, and help provide a safe, clean and welcoming environment for all visitors.
Duties
- Open and close the Fitness Zone and Spa Suite.
- Supervise customers and implement emergency procedures when required.
- Carry out security, fire safety and equipment safety checks.
- Complete daily cleaning and deep cleaning schedules.
- Deliver gym inductions for new customers and exercise referral users.
- Provide guidance on exercise programmes, equipment use and safe exercise techniques.
- Supervise group gym sessions, Healthy 4 Life activities and disability fitness sessions.
- Deliver one-to-one gym sessions for Healthy 4 Life customers.
- Monitor the safe use of equipment and prevent misuse or damage.
- Carry out equipment inspections, report faults and remove unsafe equipment from use.
- Undertake water testing in the Spa Suite and maintain accurate records.
- Support sporting events and physical activity programmes.
- Assist Leisure Assistants and provide operational cover in other areas of the Centre when required.
- Store, issue and record stock and deliveries.
- Attend training, team meetings and continuing professional development activities.
- Follow health and safety, safeguarding and customer service procedures at all times.
Essential Skills
- Level 2 Gym Instructor Certificate or equivalent sports coaching/instructor qualification.
- Ability to attain and maintain site-specific training.
- Training and knowledge of working in a sports facility environment.
- Friendly and efficient customer service skills.
- Good understanding of health and wellbeing.
- Ability to complete routine administrative tasks and records.
- Friendly, approachable and professional manner.
- Patient but able to apply procedures consistently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Enthusiastic, conscientious and reliable.
- Trustworthy, punctual and acts with integrity.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Satisfactory police check.
Desirable Skills
- Safeguarding and Protecting Children Certificate.
- First Aid at Work and Basic Life Support qualification.
- Awareness of the Isle of Man Strategy for Sport.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
