Job Purpose: Support the Financial Advisory Service by providing financial administration, reporting and analytical support to Government departments, helping deliver accurate financial information, maintain effective systems and support sound financial decision-making.
Duties
- Support budget holders in monitoring budgets and expenditure.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Process financial transactions, journals and accounting entries accurately.
- Complete reconciliations, audits and financial checks as required.
- Provide advice and assistance on financial queries and transaction coding.
- Maintain financial records, databases and spreadsheets.
- Support the administration of purchase cards and financial systems.
- Process applications, payments and claims for departmental schemes and funds.
- Monitor shared mailboxes and maintain confidential financial information.
- Help produce management information, statistics and financial analysis.
- Assist with improvement projects and updating procedures.
- Ensure records, inventories and delegated authority information are kept up to date.
- Carry out other financial and administrative duties as required.
Essential Skills
- Good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to engage and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers at all levels.
