Job Purpose: Help keep Kensington Arts clean, safe, secure and well maintained. You will support the day-to-day upkeep of this historic building, carry out cleaning and minor maintenance, complete health and safety checks and help ensure the venue is ready to welcome customers throughout the year. You will also act as Duty Manager on a rota, including some evenings and weekends.  

Duties
- Clean indoor and outdoor areas, including toilets, entrances, gullies and drains.
- Sweep, vacuum, polish, dust and use powered cleaning equipment where required.
- Remove litter and recycling and keep cleaning equipment in good condition.
- Report and help deal with maintenance faults and building defects.
- Carry out minor repairs, redecoration and maintenance of furniture, signage, shelving, lighting and other facilities.
- Order cleaning supplies and other provisions and check deliveries.
- Monitor heating oil and vehicle power levels and arrange refuelling or charging when required.
- Carry out regular health and safety checks, including fire alarms and lighting systems.
- Follow COSHH, risk assessment and safe working procedures.
- Liaise with contractors and help ensure work is completed safely on site.
- Help maintain the security of the building and monitor CCTV when required.
- Maintain records and complete basic paperwork using IT systems such as Microsoft Excel.
- Support events, including moving furniture and equipment.
- Act as Duty Manager for the complex on a rostered basis, including some evenings and weekends.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns involving children, young people or vulnerable adults.

Essential Skills  
- Previous experience in a maintenance or caretaking role.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training such as Health & Safety, IOSH, COSHH, Portable Appliance Testing or Working at Height.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
- Ability to organise work, order materials and complete basic paperwork and reports.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to maintain high standards of cleaning and maintenance.
- Able to work safely around children and understand the importance of being a positive role model.
- Able to maintain confidentiality.
- Physically able to carry out the role, including standing, walking, lifting, carrying and working on ladders.
- Able to work safely with cleaning products and chemicals.
- Full valid driving licence.
- Satisfactory Police Check.

Desirable Skills  
- Five GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, including Maths and English.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Experience carrying out minor practical or maintenance tasks.
- Experience working with and maintaining musical equipment.
- General interest in the arts.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
