Job Purpose: Work as part of the Specialist Provision Centre (SPC) team to support learners with moderate, severe and complex needs, helping them access learning, develop independence and achieve their full potential in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.  

Duties  
- Support learners with moderate, severe and complex additional needs in the classroom, wider school and during off-site activities.
- Assist learners with personal care, hygiene, health and life skills development.
- Support the implementation of individual education, behaviour, support and mentoring plans.
- Encourage learners to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
- Assist with planning and delivering learning activities under the guidance of teachers and the SPC Manager.
- Monitor learner progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff.
- Promote positive behaviour and support learners to make positive choices.
- Prepare and maintain specialist learning resources and equipment.
- Work alongside teachers and other professionals to deliver targeted interventions.
- Carry out administrative duties, including photocopying, filing and record keeping.
- Support learners during enrichment activities, educational visits and transport when required.
- Following appropriate training, undertake agreed medical care duties, including administering medication and other specialist procedures within competency levels.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection procedures at all times.

Essential Skills
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
- Experience working with children or young people.
- Ability to support learners with moderate, severe and complex learning needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with learners, families and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
- Flexible, adaptable and able to use initiative.
- Caring, patient and empathetic approach.
- Commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities.
- Willingness to undertake training, including medical competencies where required.
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the role.
- Satisfactory Police Check.

Desirable Skills
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
- Experience supporting children with autism or significant communication and behavioural needs.
- Experience assisting with personal care and medical support.
- Understanding of specialist support services and interventions.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
