Job Purpose: Support children and young people with moderate, severe, and complex learning needs within the Specialist Provision Centre (SPC) at Rushen Primary School. You will help learners access education, build confidence, develop independence, and take part in school life in a safe and supportive environment.  

Duties  
- Support learners with educational, social, emotional, behavioural, physical, sensory, and personal care needs.
- Help learners take part in classroom activities and school life as independently as possible.
- Assist with personal care, health, hygiene, and medical support following training.
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and self-esteem.
- Support individual learning, behaviour, and mentoring plans.
- Work closely with teachers, the SPC Manager, parents/carers, and other professionals.
- Monitor and record learner progress and provide feedback to staff.
- Help prepare learning materials and classroom resources.
- Support learners during trips, activities, and offsite visits.
- Promote safeguarding, inclusion, equality, and wellbeing for all learners.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required.

Essential Skills
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent Level 2 qualifications).
- Experience working with children or young people.
- Ability to support learners with additional and complex needs.
- Able to work as part of a team in an educational setting.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and families.
- Organised and able to prioritise workload.
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to use initiative.
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and equal opportunities.
- Warm, approachable, and supportive attitude towards young people.

Desirable Skills
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
- Experience supporting children with autism or communication difficulties.
- Experience supporting personal care and medical needs.
- Knowledge of learning programmes in a school environment.
- Understanding of support services available for young people.
- Experience helping learners with behaviour and emotional support.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
