Job Purpose: To support learners with moderate, severe, and complex needs within the Specialist Provision Centre (SPC) at QEII High School. You will help learners access education, build confidence and independence, and support their personal, social, and emotional development. The role may include supporting learners with medical and personal care needs following training.  

Duties
- Support learners in the SPC and wider school environment to take part in learning activities as independently as possible.
- Help learners with personal care, hygiene, health, and life skills.
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and social interaction.
- Support learners during lessons, enrichment activities, and offsite visits.
- Work with teachers and the SPC Manager to support individual learning and behaviour plans.
- Record learner progress and provide feedback to teachers.
- Prepare classroom resources and help maintain a safe and organised learning environment.
- Support learners with ICT and specialist equipment where needed.
- Work with parents, carers, and external professionals to support learner progress.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection procedures at all times.
- Carry out medical care duties within training and competency guidelines, such as administering medication or supporting feeding and care needs.

Essential Skills
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent Level 2 qualification).
- Experience working with children or young people.
- Ability to support learners with additional and complex needs.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
- Ability to support positive behaviour and learner wellbeing.
- Organised and able to prioritise workload.
- Flexible, approachable, and supportive attitude.
- Commitment to equality, inclusion, and safeguarding.
- Physically able to meet the demands of the role.
- Satisfactory Police Check required.

Desirable skills
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
- Experience supporting learners with autism or communication and behavioural needs.
- Experience supporting personal care and medical needs.
- Understanding of support services available for young people.
- Ability to motivate learners and build self-esteem.
- Isle of Man Worker status.

£28,426 - £34,289 pro rata per annum
