Job Purpose: To support children and young people with moderate, severe or complex needs in a Specialist Provision Centre, helping them access learning, build independence and feel included in school life.  

Duties  
- Support learners in lessons and activities, helping them take part and stay safe
- Assist with personal care, health and daily living skills
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and social interaction
- Work with teachers to deliver learning activities and support plans
- Help create a calm, organised and supportive learning environment
- Monitor progress and give feedback on learning and behaviour
- Support learners during trips, activities and across the wider school
- Build positive relationships with students, staff and parents/carers
- Help with admin tasks like photocopying and preparing resources
- Use ICT and specialist equipment to support learning
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety and school policies at all times
- Take part in training, meetings and development opportunities
- Carry out medical care tasks (after training), such as feeding or medication support

Essential Skills
- GCSE Maths and English (Level 2 or equivalent)
- Experience working with children or young people
- Ability to support learners with additional needs
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Able to build positive relationships and act as a role model
- Able to support behaviour and manage challenging situations
- Organised and able to prioritise tasks
- Willing to learn and develop new skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and inclusion
- Physically able to meet the demands of the role
- Willing to complete a police check

Desirable Skills
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification (or similar)
- Experience supporting personal care or medical needs
- Experience working with autism or complex needs
- Knowledge of learning support strategies and interventions
- Understanding of support services available to young people
- Ability to motivate learners and build confidence
