Job Purpose: Support learners with moderate, severe, and complex needs within the Specialist Provision Centre (SPC) at Bunscoill Rhumsaa. You will help learners access education, develop confidence and life skills, and support their personal, social, and medical needs in a safe and inclusive environment.  

Duties  
- Support learners in the classroom, around the school, and during offsite activities.
- Help learners with personal care, health, hygiene, and daily living skills.
- Encourage learners to take part in activities and interact positively with others.
- Assist with individual learning, behaviour, and support plans.
- Support learners with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Build positive relationships with learners and act as a role model.
- Help learners develop confidence, independence, and self-esteem.
- Provide feedback on learner progress, behaviour, and achievements.
- Support enrichment and extra-curricular activities.
- Carry out medical care duties after training, such as medication support and other agreed procedures.
- Help create a calm, safe, and supportive learning environment.
- Assist teachers and the SPC Manager with lesson activities and learner progress records.
- Promote positive behaviour and support learners in making good choices.
- Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and other professionals.
- Support the use of ICT and specialist equipment in learning activities.
- Attend meetings, training, and development activities.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality, and child protection procedures at all times.

Essential Skills  
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
- Experience working with children or young people.
- Ability to support learners with additional and complex needs.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with learners and staff.
- Able to support behaviour management and learner wellbeing.
- Willingness to complete training and develop new skills.
- Organised and able to prioritise workload.
- Flexible, positive, and approachable attitude.
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and equal opportunities.
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the role.
- Satisfactory Police Check required.

Desirable Skills
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
- Experience supporting children with autism or communication difficulties.
- Experience supporting personal care and medical needs.
- Understanding of support services available for learners.
- Ability to motivate learners and encourage independence.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
