Job Purpose: Support teaching and learning in the classroom, helping pupils access lessons, build confidence and develop key skills while working closely with teachers and the wider school team.  

Duties  
- Support pupils in lessons, helping them stay engaged and make progress
- Build positive relationships with pupils and act as a good role model
- Help create an inclusive environment where every pupil feels supported
- Work with teachers to prepare and deliver learning activities
- Support small groups or individual pupils where needed
- Encourage independence, teamwork and positive behaviour
- Monitor and record pupil progress and share feedback with staff
- Help manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Support use of ICT and learning resources in lessons
- Assist with admin tasks such as updating records
- Help supervise pupils during trips, activities and break times
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety and school policies at all times
- Work as part of a team and attend meetings/training when required

Essential Skills
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualification)
- Experience working with children or young people
- Ability to support pupils’ wellbeing, personal needs and development
- Understanding of child development and how pupils learn
- Good teamwork skills and ability to build positive relationships
- Ability to plan/support activities for pupils who may be struggling
- Strong communication skills with both pupils and staff
- Ability to stay calm and positive in challenging situations
- Willingness to complete safeguarding training
- Basic ICT skills to support learning
- Commitment to inclusion, equality and supporting young people

Desirable Skills
- Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or above)
- Training in learning strategies (e.g. phonics)
- First aid training
- Experience supporting pupils with additional needs
- Knowledge of school curriculum or learning programmes
- Experience using specialist equipment or resources in schools

This is a Limited Term Contract until February 2027
