Job Purpose: To support pupils with additional needs at primary school, helping them access learning, build confidence and stay safe while working closely with teachers and school staff.  

Duties  
- Support pupils in lessons, including those with special educational needs, ensuring they are safe and engaged
- Help deliver learning activities and follow teacher guidance to support progress
- Assist with individual education and behaviour plans
- Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage confidence and independence
- Support pupils’ social, emotional and personal development
- Promote inclusion so all pupils feel valued and involved
- Monitor and record pupil progress and give feedback to teachers
- Help manage behaviour and encourage positive choices
- Support classroom setup, displays and learning resources
- Assist with admin tasks such as photocopying and basic record keeping
- Support use of ICT and learning tools
- Supervise pupils during break times, trips and activities
- Work with parents/carers and other professionals when needed
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety and school policies at all times

Essential Skills
- Good understanding of child development and how children learn
- Knowledge of the national curriculum and learning programmes
- Ability to build strong relationships with children and adults
- Teamwork skills and understanding of classroom roles
- Ability to support pupils at risk of falling behind
- Understanding of different special educational needs
- Good communication and organisation skills
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent
- Ability to stay calm, flexible and use initiative
- Commitment to safeguarding and supporting young people

Desirable skills
- Experience supporting children or young people in a school setting
- Experience supporting pupils with additional needs
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification (or similar)
- Experience supporting emotional or behavioural needs
- Ability to support small group learning (e.g. phonics)

Limited Term Contract - 12 Months

£28,426 - £34,289 pro rata per annum
