Job Purpose: Provide technical and practical support to staff and students in Hospitality & Catering, keeping kitchens, equipment and resources ready for teaching, and maintaining a safe, compliant working environment.  

The Duties  
- Prepare, set up and maintain training kitchens and the commercial restaurant for practical sessions.
- Support lecturers during practical demonstrations, including preparing, operating and shutting down equipment.
- Help staff and students use specialist equipment, tools and resources safely and correctly.
- Provide targeted support to learners who need extra help to take part in practical activities.
- Keep work areas organised, fully resourced and safely stored, including equipment and materials.
- Order and manage provisions, consumables and equipment in line with budgets and procedures.
- Maintain stock control, inventory records, pricing and point of sale data, including stock checks.
- Receive and store deliveries correctly, following food safety, labelling and rotation procedures.
- Process invoices and maintain accurate financial and audit records.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, pricing, servicing, repairs and parts.
- Complete and maintain health, safety and hygiene documentation, including risk assessments and COSHH.
- Carry out regular safety checks, equipment inspections and PAT testing, reporting faults promptly.
- Maintain first aid supplies and records.
- Carry out minor repairs and arrange external servicing where required.
- Maintain accurate records and reports to support operational requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and take part in meetings, training and development.
- Follow safeguarding, equality, confidentiality, security and data protection policies.
- Act as a positive role model for learners.
- Work 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only plus two additional weeks.

Essential Skills  
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.
- First Aid qualification or willingness to achieve this within two years.
- Experience working in a professional kitchen or hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety and environmental health standards.
- Experience managing stock, orders, invoices and accurate records.
- Understanding of allergens, cross-contamination and safe food handling.
- Ability to prepare and organise practical learning environments.
- Ability to identify basic equipment faults and arrange repairs.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams.
- Strong organisation, time management and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, professional and proactive approach to work.
- Satisfactory police check.

Desirable skills
- Relevant NVQ Level 2 or higher in Hospitality, Catering or Professional Cookery.
- Experience providing technical or practical support in a training environment.
- Isle of Man worker.
- Full driving licence and access to own vehicle.
