Job Purpose: Work as part of the Education Support Team to provide classroom support for pupils across the primary school, helping children access learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential while working closely with teachers and other school staff.  

Duties  
- Support pupils in accessing learning activities under the guidance of the teacher.
- Deliver small group and individual intervention programmes to support pupil progress.
- Provide additional support for pupils with special educational needs, ensuring they can fully participate in learning.
- Assist with personal care where required.
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- Prepare and maintain classroom resources and learning materials.
- Assist teachers with planning and delivering learning activities.
- Monitor pupils' progress and provide accurate feedback to teachers.
- Support the use of ICT during learning activities.
- Carry out routine classroom administration, including photocopying, filing and record keeping.
- Supervise pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, clubs and other school activities when required.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.

Essential Skills
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
- Experience working with children or young people.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and relevant education policies.
- Understanding of the primary curriculum (EYFS, KS1 and KS2).
- Understanding of child development and barriers to learning.
- Awareness of inclusive practice and supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Positive, patient and encouraging approach.
- Ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs.
- Good organisational skills and ability to use ICT to support learning.
- Willingness to undertake first aid and safeguarding training.
- Satisfactory Police Check.

Desirable Skills
- Isle of Man Worker status.
