Job Purpose: Support teaching and learning at Ballaugh Primary School by helping pupils in the classroom and around the school. You will work closely with teachers and staff to support children’s learning, wellbeing and development, including pupils with additional needs.  

Duties  
- Support pupils in lessons, small group activities and around the school
- Encourage pupils to take part in learning and build confidence
- Help children work positively with others and promote inclusion
- Support pupils with additional needs, including neurodiversity differences and English as an additional language.
- Help teachers prepare learning activities and classroom resources.
- Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers.
- Promote positive behaviour and help manage classroom routines.
- Support literacy, numeracy and ICT activities.
- Prepare and maintain learning equipment and resources.
- Attend meetings, training and school activities when required.
- Support pupils on school trips and activities outside the classroom.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection procedures at all times.

Essential Skills
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent Level 2 qualification).
- Experience working with children or young people.
- Ability to support children with additional needs, including EAL and neurodiversity differences.
- Good communication and relationship-building skills with children and adults.
- Ability to motivate and encourage children.
- Understanding of nurture and inclusive learning approaches.
- Able to stay calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Good teamwork skills and willingness to support colleagues.
- Ability to use ICT and digital devices to support learning.
- Willingness to complete safeguarding training.
- Flexible, positive and able to use initiative.
- Satisfactory police checks required.

Desirable Skills
- Teaching Assistant NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
- First aid training.
- Understanding of how children learn and barriers to learning.
- Isle of Man Worker status.

This is a limited term contract running until 31/03/27.
