Job Purpose: To support teachers and pupils across the school by helping deliver lessons, preparing resources, and supporting children’s learning, behaviour and wellbeing. You’ll work as part of a team to help pupils feel safe, included and confident in school.  

Duties  
- Support pupils in lessons and help them take part in learning activities
- Help manage behaviour and encourage positive attitudes to learning
- Work with pupils who need extra support, including those with additional needs
- Assist with personal care where required
- Support small group or one-to-one intervention activities
- Help prepare classroom resources and equipment
- Work with teachers to plan and deliver learning activities
- Monitor and record pupil progress and give feedback to teachers
- Help create a safe, organised and positive classroom environment
- Support use of ICT in learning
- Assist with admin tasks like photocopying and filing
- Supervise pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes and activities
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times
- Work with staff, parents and other professionals to support pupils

Essential Skills
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualification)
- Experience working with children or young people
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to support pupils with different needs
- Understanding of how children learn and develop
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
- Confidence supporting behaviour and encouraging engagement
- Basic ICT skills to support learning
- Willingness to complete training (including safeguarding and first aid)
- Ability to stay calm and flexible in different situations

Desirable Skills
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification (or similar)
- Knowledge of the primary school curriculum
- Experience supporting pupils with additional needs
- Understanding of nurture and inclusion approaches
- Experience delivering intervention programmes
- Knowledge of support services available to pupils

£28,426 - £34,289 pro rata per annum
