Job Purpose: Under the direction of senior staff, provide general technical support to staff and pupils by preparing and maintaining resources and equipment, helping create a safe and effective learning environment, mainly in Design & Technology, Art, and Alternative Provision, with some wider school support.  

Duties
- Carry out regular safety checks on the school minibus and car, and report issues promptly.
- Keep accurate records of vehicle checks in line with school policy.
- Prepare tools, materials, and resources for Design & Technology and Art lessons.
- Maintain, clean, and store equipment, tools, and workspaces after use, as directed by teaching staff.
- Support teaching staff to monitor and enforce health and safety standards, including safe tool use and hygiene.
- Report breakages, faults, and low stock levels to relevant staff.
- Support students during practical lessons (including Alternative Provision), ensuring safe working practices are followed.
- Support positive behaviour and engagement in line with school policies.
- Work flexibly to meet lesson requirements and timetable changes.
- Support school events as needed, such as setting up and taking down staging and/or lighting.
- Complete relevant training when required (e.g. health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards).
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns to the designated safeguarding lead.

Essential Skills
- Ability to use relevant technical equipment and provide general technical/resource support.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to relate well to young people and support them in learning.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
- Satisfactory Police Check.

Desirable skills
- GCSE Maths and English (A*–C / 9–4) or Level 2 Functional Skills.
- Experience of working in a school or with children.
- Experience supporting students with additional needs and/or in Alternative Provision.
- Food hygiene certification.
- First Aid qualification.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in workshop environments.
- Knowledge of Design & Technology and Art workshop practices.
- Basic maintenance skills for tools and equipment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
- Driving licence.
