Job Purpose: Support students with additional and complex needs in the Progress Zone at St Ninian’s High School. You will work closely with teachers and the SENCo to help students feel safe, included and confident in school, while supporting their learning and wellbeing.
Duties
- Support students in lessons and around school to help them access learning and stay engaged.
- Help students with personal care, wellbeing, safety and social development where needed.
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
- Build good relationships with students and act as a positive role model.
- Support students with additional and complex needs.
- Help prepare classroom equipment and learning resources.
- Support students with basic ICT and classroom activities.
- Assist teachers by reporting student progress or concerns.
- Carry out basic admin duties such as photocopying, filing and preparing materials.
- Supervise students during breaktimes, lunchtimes, trips and school activities.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection procedures.
- Work as part of a team and attend training and meetings when required.

- Experience working with or caring for children or young people.

- Understanding of safeguarding and student welfare.

Desirable skills
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent qualifications.
- Experience working in a secondary school.
- Knowledge of supporting students with additional and complex needs.
- Experience helping students engage in classroom activities.
- Awareness of learning programmes used in secondary schools.
- First Aid training or experience.
- Interest in supporting young people with additional educational needs.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
